Mr Sergii Koziakov, Commission Chairman met with representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), 3 September, 2015
Mr Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine met with representatives of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus, in particular, with Mr Oleksandr Piskun, Democracy Project Management Specialist, Mr Daniel Ryan, Democracy Officer and Mr Andrew Solomon, Democracy Fellow on 3 September, 2015.
Mr Andrii Vasylenko, Member of the Commission and Polina Kazakevych, Head of International Cooperation Department also participated in the meeting.
The participants of the meeting discussed current situation and priorities of reforming judiciary in Ukraine.
In particular, Mr Sergii Koziakov told in details about initial qualification assessment of judges, which currently is in the process of implementation. Stressing on importance of restoring public confidence in judiciary, the Chairman of the Commission differentiated two main priority objectives, which include ensuring the independence of the judiciary and fighting with corruption.
The participants of the meeting also discussed some additional practical measures that may contribute to deepening reforming process of judicial system of Ukraine.
