Working Meeting of the Commission Chairman with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, 17 May, 2016

On 17 May 2016 there was held a working meeting of the Commission Chairman Mr. Sergii Koziakov with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Ambassador Vaidotas Verba.

The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Ambassador Vaidotas Verba told about the main goals and objectives of the OSCE Project. He also stated that the main requirement of the OSCE Member States, acting donor of the projects, is the international independent audit of cooperation programs implementation. Thus, the work of the projects is open, transparent, effective and aimed at achieving concrete results.

The Commission Chairman Mr. Sergii Koziakov told the Honorable Ambassador about the main procedures carried out by the Commission for implementation of the powers entrusted to the Commission, and challenges faced during the implementation of judicial reform.

Mr. Koziakov also elaborated on plans and prospects of the Commission. In particular, the Chairman stressed on the need quickly to address the issue of competition to the positions in Supreme Court of Ukraine in view of the critical importance of the full composition of the Supreme Court for the sustainable development of the judicial system of Ukraine.

Separately, there were also discussed the interim results of the initial qualification assessment of judges.

Among the participants of the meeting there also was present Mrs. Nataliia Stupnytska, National Project Manager at OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.

In conclusion, Mr. Verba highly appreciated the transformation of the judicial system in Ukraine, which the Commission is also subject to, and expressed his readiness to support and cooperate in order the objectives to be achieved.
