63 candidates for the positions of judges of the High Specialized Court on Intellectual Property successfully passed the exam and continue to participate in the competition.
The rating results of the test which the candidates took on October 3, 2018, were approved by the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine on November 1, 2018 and are published on the official website of the Commission: https://www.vkksu.gov.ua/en/news/zagalni-riezultati-ispitu -pid-tchas-contest-do-wishtchogo-sudu-z-pitan-intieliektualnoi-wlasnosti /
In total, 210 candidates were admitted to the competition for a position of a judge of the High Specialized Court on Intellectual Property. 148 candidates attended the exam, anonymous written test and case study. The participants took the test and case study in one day. 63 candidates successfully passed the exam. The minimum passing grade among the winners of the exam is 145.25. Next, the winners of the exam are to take part in the next stage of the competition is interviews with the members of the HQCJU.
Among the winners gender balance is observed: 31 women and 32 men. The overwhelming majority of candidates, namely 76%, are 30-39 years old, 19% of candidates who will take part in further stages of the competition are 40-49 years old. The most active candidates turned out to be from Kyiv (19% of candidates), Dnipropetrovsk region (13% of candidates) and Rivne region (10% of candidates). Participants, who successfully passed the qualification exam within the framework of the competition to the IP-court, are mainly judges (54 candidates), 2 candidates with experience of attorneys and 2 patent attorneys respectively.
It should be recalled that on September 30, 2017, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine announced the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property for 21 vacant positions. On October 5, 2018, the competition for 9 vacant positions of judges of the Appeal Chamber of the High Court on Intellectual Property was announced.
