A regular meeting of representatives of the projects of International Technical Assistance in the judicial area took place
On June 5, 2019, a meeting of representatives of the projects of the International Assistance working in the area of the Rule of Law took place at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The event was organized with the support of the USAID New Justice Program.
The representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the State Administration of Ukraine, the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the Supreme Court and the High Anti-Corruption Court, international organizations, foreign diplomatic missions, projects of international technical assistance and public organizations took part in the meeting.
During the event, Ms. Olena Tanasevych, Head of the High Anti-Corruption Court, informed on the preparation of the premises of the High Anti-Corruption Court for work that should begin on September 5, 2019.
Mr. Denys Poltavets, Program Development Director at the Aspen Institute Kyiv, informed the audience about the new direction “Justice, Law and Society” of the Institute, which promotes the culture of dialogue and the exchange of ideas with the purpose to increase the level of trust to the court.
Representatives of the projects of the International Technical Assistance told about initiatives to improve the education system of future lawyers and advanced training programs for acting judges, and also shared plans for the future development of Ukrainian judiciary.
International donors expressed their support to Ukrainian judicial authorities, in particular, to the High Qualification Commission of Judges and said they are ready to continue cooperation in the area of judicial reform.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) New Justice Program has been operating in Ukraine since October 2016.
The goal of the Program is to support the judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and the people of Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform taking into account the Constitutional amendments 2016 and Strategy for reforming the judiciary structure, the judiciary proceedings and related legal institutions for 2015–2020.
The USAID “New Justice” Program builds on the achievements of the USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project and USAID FAIR Justice Project and will use its progress for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID and US Government Projects and other projects of International donor organizations in Ukraine.
