Chairman of the Commission took part in the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe Project “Support to the implementation of the judicial reform in Ukraine”
On 24 January 2017 Mr. Sergii Koziakov, the Chairman of the Commission and the Head of the International Cooperation Division of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Secretariat Mrs. Polina Kazakevych took part in the second meeting of the Coordination Group organized by the Council of Europe Project “Support to the implementation of the judicial reform in Ukraine.”
During the discussion, Mr. Sergii Koziakov spoke about the challenges faced by the Commission in preparation for the competition to the new Supreme Court and thanked the Project for providing expert support during the development of the legal framework for the competition.
Except the Commission representatives the list of participants also included Mr. Konstiantyn Krasovskyi, Head of the Department of Legal Policy of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Mr. Oleksandr Nechytailo, Chairman President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, Mrs. Valentyna Simonenko, Chairman of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, Mrs. Olha Bulka, Deputy Head of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, Mrs. Natalia Shuklina, Vice Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Mr. Ivan Lishchyna, Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights, and representatives of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the high specialized courts of Ukraine and the High Council of Justice.
At the meeting partners of the Project evaluated the effectiveness of cooperation within the CoE Project in 2016 and voiced proposals on possible areas of cooperation for the current year.
The Chairman of the Commission positively assessed the assistance of the Project in 2016, expressing hope for further effective and fruitful cooperation with the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine and the Council of Europe Project “Support to the implementation of the judicial reform in Ukraine” in the timely implementation of the judicial reform within the terms established by law.

It aims to ensure a further approximation of Ukrainian judicial system to the standards and recommendations of the Council of Europe.
