Commission recommends dismissing 283 Crimean judges

At the meeting of the Disciplinary Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, held on 10 November, 2015, it considered the issue of bringing judges to disciplinary liability.

After consideration of appeals by Mr. Anatolii Matios, Deputy Prosecutor-General of Ukraine, Mr. Serhii Leshchenko, People’s Deputy of Ukraine and Mr. Yaroslav Romaniuk, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine on the issue of brining to disciplinary liability of judges from temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol the Commission decided to recommend to the High Council of Justice dismissing 283 judges.

The Commission decided to send recommendation to the High Council of Judges on a dismissal of 277 Crimean judges, seeing the facts of breaching the oath. In addition, the Commission recommends dismissing 6 Crimean judges, seeing the facts of violation of incompatibility requirements.

In May, August and September 2015 the Commission received appeals of Mr. Anatolii Matios, Deputy Prosecutor-General of Ukraine, Mr. Serhii Leshchenko, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Mr. Yaroslav Romaniuk, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, which raised the question of brining 283 judges of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to disciplinary liability.

By the Commission Decision as of 5 October, 2015 number 243/dp-15 the Commission opened a disciplinary case in respect of 283 judges of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea upon the abovementioned appeals.
