Commission suspended the judge for 2 months
On 11 May 2016 at the meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine upon the motion of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine the Commission decided to suspend judge from office.
Thus, in connection with the criminal prosecution, the Commission suspended for 2 months Mrs. Olena Horbatenko, judge of Sievierodonetskyi City Court of Luhansk region.
The Commission deferred consideration of the motion for extension of suspension period for Mr. Serhii Laziuk, judge of Dzerzhynskyi District Court of Kharkiv.

Judge Olena Horbatenko is suspected of committing criminal offence envisaged by paragraph 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely receiving a bribe in especially great amount by an authorized person in responsible position, or by a group of persons upon proceeding conspiracy for the benefit of oneself and the third people in the interest of briber and third people for using of responsible position, accompanied by the extortion of a bribe.
Judge Serhii Laziuk was suspended till 3 April 2016 by the Commission Decision as of 11 March 2016. By the Commission Decision as of 4 April 2016 his suspension period was extended for 1 month.
Judge Serhii Laziuk is suspected of committing criminal offence envisaged by paragraph 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely receiving a bribe in especially great amount by an authorized person in responsible position for committing by such a person any actions with the use of powers for the benefit of briber, accompanied by the extortion of a bribe.
