Cooperation between Commission and Ukrainian Bar Association was discussed
At the premises of the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine the working meeting between the Commission representatives and the Ukrainian Bar Association was held on 1 October, 2015. The issue on amendments to the Regulations of the HQCJU was broached during the meeting.
On behalf of the Commission the meeting was attended by Mr Mykola Patriuk, Deputy Chairman, Mr Mykhailo Makarchuk and Mr Pavlo Lutsiuk, Commission Members, Mr Mykola Mykoliuk, Head of the Legal Department, Commission Secretariat, Mrs Olena Ruden, Deputy Head of the Legal Department, Commission Secretariat, Mrs Yana Tretiak, Mr Volodymyr Ishchenko, Mrs Olena Vashchuk, Commission inspectors. The Ukrainian Bar Association was represented by Mr Denys Buhai, President, Mrs Yaryna Dupai, Law-Drafting Coordinator and Mr Mykyta Nuralin, Legal Advisor.
The sides exchanged their views in the context of amendments to the Commission Regulations in the part of disciplinary cases review. In particular, they discussed in detail the adhering reasonable terms of disciplinary cases consideration with bearing in mind the large number of complaints receiving by the Commission. For today there are about 10 thousand.
Taking into account the amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, the participants made a number of proposals, including the role of legal advisors in filing complaints to the Commission.
The sides agreed and worked out ways of further cooperation. They also agreed the work of joint round table between the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Bar Association, which shall take place on 6 October, 2015.
