Coordination meeting of donors on facilitation of competition to the Supreme Court
Under the support of the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM) on May 23, 2017 was held the Coordination meeting of international projects on facilitation of competition to the Supreme Court.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the Commission Chairman Mr. Sergii Koziakov and Member of the Chamber for judicial selection and public service Mr. Andrii Kozlov.
Except the EUAM and the Commission the meeting was also attended by the representatives of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Strategic Advisory Group supporting Ukrainian reforms, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the EU Project “Support to justice sector reforms in Ukraine,” the USAID New Justice Program and USAID Office of Democracy and Governance, the CoE Project “Support to the implementation of judicial reform in Ukraine,” the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, Canadian Support to Judicial Reform Project and the EU Twinning Project “Strengthening the institutional capacity of the Supreme Court of Ukraine in the field of human rights protection at the national level.”
During the event the participants discussed the process of interviewing candidates for judicial positions to the Supreme Court and future training of the newly appointed judges.
The Commission Chairman Mr. Koziakov told the participants about the tight working schedule of the Commission at the last stage of the competition, peculiarities of interaction with the Public Integrity Council and emphasized the importance of objective and impartial showing to the public the final SC competition results.
He also presented to the donors “Newsletter of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine” - newly launched mean of informing foreign partners by the Commission about its current activities and latest developments.
“We believe there is a lack of objective information about the competition in our international partners. Therefore, we will periodically make a summarizing of the results of our work for you,” - said Mr. Koziakov.
The participants also discussed possible areas of cooperation during further competitions and selections of judicial candidates that are to be held by the Commission in the future.
The Commission Chairman thanked donors for their support in the holding the SC competition and their presence during interviews with candidates.
