Experts from the European Union countries are getting acquainted with the judicial reform of Ukraine

The visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Brussels continues. Today, on 5th of October 2017, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr.  Sergii Koziakov, the Secretary of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission Mr. Stanislav Shchotka and the Chairman of the High Council of Justice Mr. Ihor Benedysiuk took part in two events dedicated to the reform of the judicial system.

The management of the HQCJ and the HCJ, together with the representative of Ukraine to the EU Mr. Mykola Tochitskyi, exchanged views on the course of judicial reform with representatives of all EU member states. Mr. Sergii Koziakov told the European partners about the stages of judicial reform in Ukraine and, in particular, the Commission’s involvement in the implementation of changes in the judiciary.

During the briefing for European partners, the Chairman of the HQCJ spoke about the competition to the Supreme Court in Ukraine and the peculiarities of the qualification assessment of judges in our country. The Chairman of the Commission also told about the creation process of the High Court on Intellectual Property and stressed that the Commission has already announced the competition for vacant positions to such Court. He also emphasized the importance of establishing of the courts that will deal with cases related to corruption.

The reforms in the judiciary of Ukraine were also discussed during the roundtable organized by the European Political Center (EPC) in Brussels. Mr. Sergii Koziakov and
Mr. Stanislav Shchotka told to the representatives of the European Commission what steps had already been taken and what to expect in the future and, in particular, about the current work of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
