HCJ began consideration of Commission’s recommendations on the appointment of judges to local general courts
On April 27, 2020, at the High Council of Justice’s meeting, the materials submitted to the HCJ by the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine regarding the submission to the President of Ukraine for the appointment of 20 candidates for the judges’ positions to local general courts were considered.
It should be reminded that on August 9, 2019, under the results of the competitive selection announced on July 2, 2019, the Commission submitted to the High Council of Justice recommendations on the appointment of 467 candidates.
Following the consideration of the recommendations of the Commission, the High Council of Justice decided to submit to the President of Ukraine an application on the appointment of 20 candidates for the judges’ positions to local general courts.
The HCJ plans to consider 467 Commission’s recommendations for candidates applying for vacant judicial positions to local general courts. The draft agenda for the meetings of the High Council of Justice, which are to be held on April 27-29, 2020, includes the consideration of materials regarding 20 candidates for the judges’ positions, which means that it is planned to consider the recommendations for 60 candidates within three days.
Due to the appointment of candidates for judges’ positions, the courts that did not administer justice would be restored, and the excessive level of judicial workload in the courts would be regulated.
