International Intellectual Property Forum was held in Kyiv

On 06 June 2018, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Sergii Koziakov participated in the annual International Intellectual Property Forum (IPF-2018) organized by the “Yuridicheskaya Praktika” newspaper.

The Commission’s Chairman took the floor in the panel discussion “Intellectual Justice”, in particular, describing the plans of the HQCJ on the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property.

As Mr. Sergii Koziakov noted, the experience gained by the Commission during the competition to the Supreme Court, would also help in carrying out the procedures related to the formation of the High Court on Intellectual Property.

“We are currently working on a work schedule for the second half of the year. Possible plans that are yet to be approved by the Commission are as follows: to conduct three competitions almost simultaneously – the second competition to the Supreme Court, the competition to the Anti-Corruption Court and the              IP Court”, said the Chairman of the Commission.

During the panel the following topics were discussed: the training of judges specializing in intellectual property disputes, foreign experience in handling such disputes, and the impact of institutional changes on the level of protection of intellectual property rights in Ukraine.

Representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Supreme Court judges, partners of leading law firms were invited to participate in the forum.
