Meeting of the Commission Chairman with the сhairmen of the appellate general courts
In preparation for the organization and holding of initial qualification assessment of judges on 29 October, 2015 in the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases Mr. Sergii Koziakov, the Commission Chairman and Mr. Roman Savchuk, Director of Professional Qualification of Judges and Judicial Candidates Department of the Commission Secretariat met with the сhairmen of the appellate general courts to familiarize them with the stages and characteristics of initial qualification assessment.
During the event, representatives of the Commission covered the basic provisions of the procedure of initial qualification assessment of judges provided in paragraph 6 of Section II “Transitional Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On ensuring the right to fair trial.” They also informed the participants that after a long approval procedures with the Council of Judges of Ukraine and consideration by the Commission of acceptable observations of the Council, it approved the Procedure and Methodology of Qualification Assessment of Judges on 21 October, 2015 and the Regulation on Examination Procedure and Its Evaluation Methodology during Qualification Assessment of Judges on 26 October 2015. These documents were directed to the Council of Judges of Ukraine for final approval.
After implementation of the Law by the Council of Judges of Ukraine that shall approve Procedure and Methodology of Qualification Assessment of Judges and the Regulation on Examination Procedure and Its Evaluation Methodology during Qualification Assessment of Judges, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine will immediately start initial qualification assessment of judges.
