Meeting of the Commission leadership with the representatives of the EU Pravo-Justice Project took place

On December 13, 2018, Mr. Sergii Koziakov met with Mr. Ivar Tallo and Mr. Marko Aavik, international experts from the EU Pravo-Justice Project and Ms. Polina Kazakevych, national expert on e-justice issues.

The Secretariat of the Commission at the event was represented by Mr. Oleksandr Bystrushkin, Acting Head of the Commission Secretariat, Mr. Denys Mamchenko, Head of Information Technologies Department and Ms. Yuliia Tkachenko, Acting Head of International Cooperation Department. 

International experts on e-justice came to Ukraine to study state authorities’ needs in the field of improving document management systems by introducing the most up-to-date practices in the field of electronic document flow.

The main topics discussed at the meeting were peculiarities of administering judicial dossier and document flow with other state bodies of the judiciary as well as ways of their improvement due to the Commission carrying out a large number of procedures for the implementation of judicial reform, in particular, competitions to the Supreme Court, to the High Anti-Corruption Court, to the High Court on Intellectual Property, qualification evaluation of judges for their eligibility for the position held and selection of candidates for the position of a local court judge.

The parties discussed areas of future cooperation and agreed to continue cooperation in the field of e-justice.

The EU Pravo-Justice Project implemented with the financial support of the European Union is aimed at consolidating pan-European reforms in the field of justice. The Project involves experts from various EU Member States and will continue till the end of year 2020. The main Project’s activities are, inter alia, assisting Ukrainian authorities in the judiciary reset and selection of new Supreme Court justices, the establishment of the Judicial Reform Council, restructuring the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, reforming registers and e-justice, facilitating probation service etc.
