Mr Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the Commission met with Mr Volodymyr Kotvytskyi, Mrs Hanna Maricheva, Mrs Olha Prymak-Berezovska, Mr Yevhen Synelnykov, Mr Vadym Smitiuh, Mr Oleh Fedorov and Mr Pavlo Chernikov, initiative group of representatives of judicial candidates for the first time on 31 July 2015. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Commission Secretariat Mr Oleksandr Bystrushkin, Mrs Olha Lisova and Mr Roman Palii.

The guests gathered at the round table of the Commission after Mr Koziakov invitation, made during the discussion at the forum, organized by the newspaper “Legal practice.”

They discussed the topical issues causing concern for the judicial candidates for the first time (their number in reserve now accounts for 1190 people). In particular, the question was raised on whether the planned announcement of the competition for the vacant positions of judges will be held before the end of stay in reserve for the candidates who have been added onto it in November 2012.

The attenders stressed the attention on taking into account the provisions of the draft Law on amending the Law of Ukraine “On ensuring the right to a fair trial” № 2429a of 22.07.2015 while filling the reserve list on occupying the vacancies of judges.

There was also discussed the issue of possible re-qualification exam for judicial candidates, who in December 2013 were provided with recommendations for the appointment for judicial position and those who will stay in the reserve list till December 2015, taking into account the provisions of the Law on amending certain Laws of Ukraine on improving certain provisions of the legislation on the judiciary № 2358a of 15.07.2015.

Mr Sergii Koziakov, Commission Chairman gave exhaustive answers to all questions that were subject of the meeting, instructing to work out proposals made by the participants and expressed his hope for further cooperation in connection to adhering the rights and legitimate interests of judicial candidates for the first time. The parties of the meeting also marked the benefits of communication in such a format.
