Mr. Sergii Koziakov participated in the III International Compliance Forum
Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine delivered a speech at the 5th final session of the III International Compliance Forum which took place on September 19, 2018, in Kyiv.
The Chairman of the Commission participated in discussion on anti-corruption progress of Ukraine. In particular, the participants of the session analyzed jurisdictional risks of Ukraine and assessed the work of key bodies – National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. They also shared their expectations from the establishment of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
As Mr. Sergii Koziakov said, the establishment of the High Anti-Corruption Court is only part of the judicial reform as other anti-corruption bodies are established as well.
“Anti-Corruption authorities are Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, so the High Anti-Corruption Court shall deliver fair judgments: acquittal or indictments,” he said.
The Chairman of the Commission said that 259 people submitted documents for 27 positions in the first instance and for 12 positions in the Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court. He also reminded that the peculiarity of the competition to the High Anti-Corruption Court is the involvement of international experts in the evaluation of candidates.
