Mr. Stanislav Shchotka reported on the judicial reform in Ukraine at the meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom, and Security of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee
On 1 June 2018, the Deputy Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Stanislav Shchotka paid a working visit to Brussels in the Ukrainian delegation.
He took part in the fourth meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom, and Security of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee.
During the session on the Implementation of Justice Sector Reform Strategy and related institutes Mr. Stanislav Shchotka highlighted the justice sector reform in Ukraine.
He focused on the scale of the Supreme Court competition and emphasized that this competition had become an important achievement of the judicial reform in Ukraine. Also, Mr. Stanislav Shchotka familiarized the participants with the course of the qualification assessment of judges for their compliance with the occupied positions.
In addition to the above procedures, being within the competence of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the Deputy Chairman of the HQCJ paid attention to the selection of candidates for the position of a local court judge. He noted that the Commission was currently working on the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property. Answering the questions, Mr. Stanislav Shchotka stressed that the Commission was ready to carry out qualified and high-quality procedures on the establishment of the High Anticorruption Court.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, and others.
