Regular meeting of representatives of international technical assistance projects working over strengthening the rule of law

The representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the regular meeting of donors and project\program implementers in the field of rule of law, organized by the USAID FAIR Justice Project on 7 October, 2015.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the High Specialized Court for Civil and Criminal Cases, German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), Leavitt Institute for International Development, international projects and NGOs.

During the event, Mr Frank Van Luijk, Director of the Consulting Company “LTP Business Psychologists” described the experience of the Netherlands in standardizing procedures for judicial selection, including psychological testing of judicial candidates, and gave examples of questions asked during the interview of candidate for judicial position.

In the second part Mr Ondrej Vosatka, Coordination and Cooperation Officer of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) and Mr Robert Boer, Head of the Administration of Justice Advisory Unit for EUAM, introduced the participants to EUAM law enforcement donor coordination initiative.

Mrs Ketevan Tskhomelidze, Project Manager, the Council of Europe Project “Continued support to criminal justice reform in Ukraine” funded by the Government of Denmark closed the meeting with its report.

In addition, participants exchanged news about current and planned activities in strengthening the rule of law.
