Representatives from CJU are appointed to the competition commission which will select the members of the HQCJU
On December 20, 2019, at the session of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, the issue of election of three members of the Council of Judges of Ukraine to the composition of the competition commission within competition for the position of member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was considered.
Following the results of a secret ballot, the following members of the Council of Judges of Ukraine were elected to the composition of the competition commission: Oksana Marchenko, Viktor Ostapuk, and Bohdan Monich.
Let us remind that on November 7, 2019 the Law of Ukraine dated October 16, 2019 № 193-IX “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” and some laws of Ukraine regarding activity of judicial governance bodies” came into force.
Article 95 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” (in the wording dated October 16, 2019) stipulates that the appointment of members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine is carried out by the High Council of Justice in accordance with the procedure provided by this law.
