Representatives of the Commission are acquainted with the experience of Italy in training of judges
On 11-15 December 2017, a working visit of representatives of the Ukrainian judiciary to Italy takes place. The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine is represented by Mr. Taras Lukash, the member of the Qualification Chamber of the HQCJ and Ms. Olena Ponomarenko, Head of the Commission’s Secretariat.
The event was organized jointly by the Council of Europe Project “Support to the implementation of judicial reform in Ukraine” and the National School of Judges of Ukraine. During the visit both sides will be able to exchange knowledge and experience in training of judges and candidates for the position of a judge in Italy and Ukraine.
The participation of the Italian judiciary in the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgments will also be discussed.
Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation have already visited the Supreme Court of Cassation in Italy where they had communication with judges Ms. Lucia Triia, Ms. Valerie Piccone and Ms. Gianluca Grasso. The delegates discussed the impact of the European Court of Human Rights practice on the practice of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
Meetings in the Ministry of Justice, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the School of Courts, in Florence Appellate Court are scheduled during the visit.
The delegation includs: Mr. Mykola Onischuk, Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Ms. Natalia Shuklyna, Vice-Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Mr. Zenovii Kholodniuk, Head of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, Ms. Hanna Savchenko, Head of Scientific and Methodological Support for the Psychological Training of Judges Department of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Ms. Olga Shapovalova, Head of Mentor Training Department - Advisor of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Ms. Tetyana Pustovoitova, Head of International Cooperation Department of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.

The Project “Support to the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Ukraine” is implemented through the financial contribution of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and is a continuation of the work begun by the Council of Europe as to reforming the judicial system of Ukraine. It is aimed to approximate the Ukrainian justice system to the Council of Europe standards and recommendations.
