Sergii Koziakov informed about the activity of the HQCJU at the Congress of Judges of Ukraine where new members of the Commission were elected

On October 30, 2019, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Sergii Koziakov addressed at the 17th Extraordinary Congress of Judges of Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Commission informed delegates and congress participants about the work of the HQCJU in 2019. He focused his attention on the procedures of judges' qualification evaluation. In particular, he informed that as of October 24, 2019, the qualification evaluation for the positions held had been completed with respect to 3 135 judges and continued with respect to 2 045 judges.

Sergii Koziakov also spoke about competition to the Supreme Court, the High Anti-Corruption Court and the specifics of competitions to local general, administrative and commercial courts.

It should be reminded that three judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and two members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine were elected at the XVIIth Extraordinary Congress of Judges of Ukraine, which took place in Kyiv on October 29-30, 2019.

Congressional delegates voted for the appointment of members of the HQCJU. According to the results of the first stage of voting, a majority of 148 votes were cast by Oleksandr Panasiuk, a judge of the Vinnytsia Court of Appeal.

During the second vote, Tetiana Shyroian, a judge of the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases was elected as a member of the Commission and gained 155 votes.

The Commission congratulates Oleksandr Panasiuk and Tetiana Shyroian on their appointment, wishes them successful and fruitful professional activity.
