Skype acquaintance of the HQCJ Members with candidates to the Public Council of International Experts
On October 18 and 19, 2018, Members of the High Qualification Commission got acquainted with candidates to the Public Council of International Experts (PCIE) via Skype.
All HQCJ Members attended the meeting. They got to know previous and current experience of candidates working on positions of judges, lawyers and prosecutors in different countries: the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Guatemala, Macedonia. Many candidates have mixed work experience in the field of law and personally participated in anti-corruption projects.
“The acquaintance-interviews we have had is a practical step necessary for the selection of 6 candidates out of best highly professional international experts proposed by international organizations to the Public Council of International Experts composition”, commented Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the HQCJ.
The Skype communication with candidates was held in the premises of the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine with the support of the EUACI and International Development Law Organization (IDLO).
It should be recalled that under Article 9, part 3 of the Law of Ukraine “On the High Anti-Corruption Court” the criteria for electing candidates to the Public Council of International Experts are the following: impeccable business standing, high professional and moral qualities, respect in the society, at least five years of experience in other countries with procedural management, support of public prosecution in court or administration of justice in corruption-related cases.
The purpose of establishing the PCIE is to assist the Commission in conducting competition to the High Anti-Corruption Court by assessing candidates’ integrity. The term of office of the Public Council of International Experts will be two years.
