The Chairman of the Commission took part in the meeting of the UBA “Competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property”
On April 27, 2018, the Chairman of the Commission Sergii Koziakov took part in the meeting of the Ukrainian Bar Association on the subject “Competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property”.
The purpose of the event was to discuss issues related to the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property, namely: the current state of the competition; stages and time perspective of the competition; conducting the exam; testing of personal moral and psychological qualities and general abilities; interviewing.
The Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine familiarized the participants with the main stages and the order of the procedures of the competition. Thus, by the decision of the Commission on September 30, 2017, a competition has been announced for 21 vacant positions of a judge of the High Court on Intellectual Property, in which judges, lawyers, and patent attorneys have the right to take part.
The stages of the competition to a higher institution for consideration of intellectual property issues are: person conformity assessment with the law; conducting a special background check; qualification assessment, which includes testing of the law knowledge, practical assignment, testing of personal moral and psychological qualities and general abilities, in particular, interview with psychologist; investigation of judicial dossier, interview with the members of the Commission; ranking list formation and determination of the winners.
With the applications for participation in this competition procedure, the Commission has been approached by 234 persons. Under the results of the person conformity to the candidates’ requirements for the position of a judge to the High Court on Intellectual Property, 219 candidates have been admitted to take part in the competition.
For today mentioned candidates have been passing a special background check.
“In II-III quarters of 2018 those candidates, who successfully pass the special background check will be admitted to the exam, and in III-IV quarters of 2018 will pass interviews with the members of the Commission,” said Sergii Koziakov.
The participants of the meeting agreed on a close cooperation for achieving the above-mentioned goals in due course.
