The closing meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Project
Mr Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the closing meeting of the Project of CoE «Strengthening the independence, efficiency and professionalism of the judiciary in Ukraine» on December 22, 2014.
Mrs Lilit Danieghian, Co-ordinator of the Project thanked the team Project and the Sweden International Development Agency, the donor, for supporting the two years activity. Also she informed the participants about the future Project to be implemented in 2015 concerning the issues of disciplinary liability of judges.
Sergii Koziakov stressed that the Commission does need any respite and ready to cooperate with CоЕ immediately. The Commission is looking forward for future cooperation between CoE and judiciary of Ukraine.
The President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Mr Yaroslav Romaniuk stressed about the importance of independence of judicial system.
Mr Mykola Onishchuk emphasized the progress in the activity of the National School of Judges.
The SIDA representative Mrs Olga Sandakova stated that all Projects of CoE should be based on principle of human rights and an individual should be in the center of any judicial system.
The manager of the Project Mr Andrii Kavakin reported about the achievements and results of the two-year Project.
The legal expert of the Center for legal and political studies Mr Roman Kuibida proposed to set up a dialogue between the judiciary and radically oriented society in order to reduce the level of tension.
For the future the representatives of the Project asked the national partners to focus on internal coordination between them in order to not loose time in realization of the tasks of the Project.
