The Commission Chairman met with the Member of the Expert Mission of the IMF European Department
On May 23, 2017 the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Sergii Koziakov held the working meeting with Mr. Emmanuel Mathias, Member of the Expert Mission of the IMF European Department on the fourth review of the program financed under the EFF agreement.
The meeting was aimed to discuss the issue of judicial selection, in particular, within the context of future Specialized Anti-Corruption Court creation.
In addition, parties discussed already announced selection for vacant judicial positions in local courts, as well as peculiarities and interim results of the competition to the Supreme Court. Notably, during the meeting the Commission Chairman underlined the unprecedented scale and transparency of the competition procedures. He also stressed on the large involvement of public throughout all its stages.
Mr. Mathias welcomed steps taken by the Commission to form new highly-professional judiciary, and expressed hope for successful completion of judicial reform in part of the Commission’s authority.
