The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine continues to make arrangements for the establishment of the Public Council of International Experts within the framework of the competition for the positions of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court.

With the assistance of Mr. Mykola Tochytskyi, Representative of Ukraine to the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community the Commission received a note verbale from the Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union in which the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU expresses readiness to assist Ukraine in the establishment of the High Anti-Corruption Court, in particular, to promote the involvement of the European Union in forming the Public Council of International Experts.

It is stated in the note that the European External Action Service (EEAS) will coordinate the process of selecting candidates for the Public Council of International Experts among the EU institutions and EU Member States.

Currently, the Delegation of Ukraine to the EU is waiting for an official response from the European External Action Service (EEAS).

As noted earlier, under the Law of Ukraine “On the High Anti-Corruption Court” the Public Council of International Experts exercises its powers consisting of six members appointed by the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine solely on the basis of proposals by international organizations with which Ukraine cooperates in the field of preventing and countering corruption in conformity with international treaties of Ukraine.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine hopes that international organizations that have received invitations to nominate candidates to the PCIE will recommend the most competent and experienced professionals to the PCIE.

It should be recalled that the deadline for submission to the Commission of proposals from international organizations regarding candidates for the PCIE is September 14, 2018.
