The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine rendered a decision to hold an initial qualification assessment of judges

According to paragraph 6 of Chapter II “Transitional Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On ensuring the right to a fair trial” (hereinafter the “Law”) the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (hereinafter the “Commission”) shall procure the initial qualification assessment of judges in order to define whether they are capable of administering justice in relevant courts. Judges who had submitted the application for permanent judicial position at the time of entry into force of the Law shall pass initial qualification assessment the first and foremost.

Pursuant to the Law, and in accordance with Articles 83 - 86 of the Law of Ukraine “On Judiciary and the Status of Judges” on 28 January 2016 the Commission decided to hold in February-March 2016 the initial qualification assessment of judges that had submitted to the Commission application on their election to lifetime judicial positions. It also approved the list of judges, who will pass the assessment, the schedule for initial qualification assessment and the list of tasks for an anonymous written test.
