The Member of the Commission Mr. Andrii Kozlov took part in the international conference “The Main Challenges in Combating Corruption in Ukraine”

On 5th December 2017, an international conference “The Main Challenges in Combating Corruption in Ukraine" was held in order to discuss anti-corruption policy vectors.

Representatives of state authorities, experts and representatives of international and national non-governmental organizations took part in the discussion.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by a member of the Chamber for Selection and Public Service of Judges of the Commission Mr. Andrii Kozlov.

The participants discussed the general trends of anti-corruption policy, combating corruption at the local level, prospects of the establishment of a specialized anti-corruption court, and amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Corruption”.

In particular, Mr. Andrii Kozlov noted that in the next year the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine should take about 5750 stuffing decisions regarding candidates for positions of local court judges, appellate court judges, of the High Court on Intellectual Property judges, as well as on the transfer of judges.

Concerning the creation of the High Anticorruption Court Mr. Andrii Kozlov believes that the idea of involving international experts in the Commission's selection of judges is "nice", but he stressed that a number of procedural issues should be resolved. “We have to take into account the capacity of the institution, its ability to cope with the scope of the assigned tasks”, - said Mr. Andrii Kozlov.

The event was organized jointly by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and Transparency International Ukraine.
