The member of the Commission Ms. Valentyna Ustymenko participated in the conference on the results of the first trial monitoring program in Ukraine
On 28 February 2018, the Conference “Trial Monitoring” was held, at which the findings of the first trial monitoring program in Ukraine were presented.
The purpose of the event was to debate on the trial monitoring as an instrument for promoting judicial reform, the international experience in this area and the peculiarities of the implementation of the monitoring program in Ukraine.
The representatives of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, judicial and executive authorities, international organizations and civil society participated in the conference.
Presentations were made by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ms. Caroline Hemmer, the Judge of the Supreme Court Ms. Hanna Vronska and the Deputy of the Head of the Board of the Centre of Policy and Legal Reform Mr. Roman Kuybida.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine at the conference was represented by the acting Deputy Chairman of the Commission, the member of the Commission’s Chamber for Selection and Public Service of Judges Ms. Valentyna Ustymenko.
The event was organized within the framework of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Project “Ensuring the Observance of Human Rights in the Administration of Justice” in cooperation with the Centre of Policy and Legal Reform with the financial support of the Government of Canada.
