Working Meeting of the Commission with the People`s Deputies
On 31st May 2016 there was held a working meeting of the Commission Members Mr. Sergii Koziakov and Mr. Andrii Vasylenko with the People`s Deputies of the Parliament of Ukraine and members of “Samopomich Union” Political Party.
The Commission Chairman Mr. Sergii Koziakov told about the first results of initial qualification assessment of judges and described the Commission perspective upon the positive voting for the amendments to the Constitution concerning Judiciary as soon as possible.
Mr. Sergii Koziakov highlighted negative results of timely refrainment from voting by the Parliament on issues concerning judges that are pretending to obtain lifetime judicial status. The Commission Members paid a discrete attention on quickly ascending quantity of vacancies in courts that resulted in increasing caseload on the working judges, in lowering quality of the Judiciary and violation of case hearings procedural terms.
The Members of the Commission pointed out on the politicization of the processes that are connected with the movement of the judges through their career ladder. Such amendments to the Constitution will help to avoid such negative effects and will foster the self-governance of judges.
The Members of the Commission provided People`s Deputies with detailed answers on the questions concerning problems of judiciary system functioning and certain questions upon the Commission operations.
