The Commission launched a new cooperation with the Project of the European Union and the Council of Europe, 9 July, 2015
Mr Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the Commission met Mr. Markus Jaeger, Deputy Special Advisor to Council of Europe's Secretary General for Ukraine, Adviser of the joint Project of the EU and Council of Europe «Consolidation of Justice Sector Policy Development in Ukraine».
Mr Markus Jaeger informed Chairman of the main objectives and aspects of the Project. The representatives also discussed the main directions of the Commission's cooperation with the Project and identified the next steps of cooperation.
Mr Koziakov stressed the importance for the Commission to provide expert assistance in preparation of the Project and publication of the Code of Judicial Ethics and considerations of conflict of interest and assessment of risk of corruption in the activity of judges and measures against corruption control included in the strategy of judicial reform, justice and related legal institutions in the years 2015-2020 in light of the standards of the Council Europe and recommendations of GRECO.
Mr Andrii Vasylenko, Member of the Commission and Ms. Olena Trapeznikova, Head of the joint Project of the EU and Council of Europe «Consolidation of Justice Sector Policy Development in Ukraine» also attended the meeting.
