Working Meeting with Mr. Adis Hodzic, European Union Expert, 15 December, 2015

Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the Commission held working meeting with Mr. Adis Hodzic, European Union Expert on 15 December 2015.

The event was organized as part of the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” to determine the goals and ways of cooperation between the Commission and the Project on indicative parameters system development of the judiciary budgetary financing costs.

Chairman of the Commission has drawn attention to the economic and financial aspects of Judicial Reform and stressed that the development of methods for determining the workload per a judge is needed for holding an objective qualification assessment of a judge.

Mr. Adis Hodzic described the experience of European countries (Austria, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden) on applying statistics to improve administration of justice, to increase court management efficiency and rational budget allocation between judicial institutions.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Andrii Vasylenko, Member of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission, Mr. Anton Korob, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Division and Mr. Denys Pashchenko, National Expert of the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”.

The Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine,” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, began its work in 2015.

The EU Project is composed of six key components that are managed by International and National Experts Group. It aims to develop an overall strategy for justice sector reforms; the police reform and reform of bodies with investigative powers, as well as prosecutors’ reform; access to justice and securement the right to protection; independence of the judiciary; preventing and combating corruption.
