A monthly meeting of donors and projects implementers, 3 February, 2016
On 3 February 2016 the representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the regular meeting of donors and projects/programs implementers in the field of rule of law, which was organized by the USAID FAIR Justice Project.
Among the participants of the event there were the representatives of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases, the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, the High Council of Justice, the Canadian Embassy in Ukraine, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform Ukraine, the International Development Law Organization.
Mr. Ruslan Arsirii, judge of the County Administrative Court of Kyiv city, Member of the Council of Judges of Ukraine was invited as the main speaker of the event. Mr. Arsirii told about the results of the judicial authorities work in Ukraine for 2014 and shared his vision of the main challenges, trends and priorities for its future work. He also stressed on the need to create evaluation system of the effectiveness of the courts through the involvement of Ukrainian and international experts. Mr. Arsirii invited all persons concerned to participate in the expert and public discussion of the directions of the judicial authorities work in Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting the participants traditionally shared news about current and planned activities in strengthening the rule of law.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) FAIR Justice Project (FAIR) has been working in Ukraine from October 2011 to promote judicial reform.
The goal of the Project is to strengthen the rule of law through enhancing judicial independence, improving transparency and accountability of the judiciary, raising awareness of the public about the judiciary to increase public trust and confidence.
Objectives of the Project are to assist in harmonizing the national legislative and regulatory framework for the judicial reform with European and international standards of judicial accountability and independence; strengthen the accountability and transparency of key judicial institutions; enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of the judiciary; increase the role of civil society organizations as advocates for and monitors of the judiciary; implement the Law of Ukraine “On lustration of the authorities” and “On restoring confidence in the judiciary in Ukraine.”
