International Organization of development rights (IDLO) examines the prospects for cooperation with the Commission, March 5, 2015
Mr Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine met with a delegation of the International Organization of development rights (IDLO), led by Mr. William Paton, Special Envoy on March 5, 2015.
The meeting was attended by Mr Andrii Vasylenko, Advisor to the Chairman of the Commission, Mrs Polina Kazakevych, Head of the International Cooperation Division of the Commission and representatives of the International Organization of development rights (IDLO) Mr Sergii Shkliar, Legal Advisor in Ukraine and Mrs Monica Martinez, Lead Legal Officer, Justice Sector Reforms at IDLO.
Mr. William Paton told about the main activities of IDLO. In particular, stressed that the International Organization of rights has extensive experience in countries experiencing military conflict. He noted that the Organization is expanding its activities in countries where democracy is established and growing economy. Also, Mr. Paton said that IDLO considers on cooperation with the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine as one of the key areas of the organization in Ukraine.
The Chairman of the Commission told European colleagues about the activities of the Commission. He emphasized that with the entry into force of the new Law of Ukraine "On the Judicial System and Status of Judges" there will be significant changes in activity the Commission and a whole judicial system.
The parties agreed to consider the focus areas of cooperation.
IDLO is the only one international intergovernmental organization with an exclusive mandate to strengthen the principle of legality. Its aim is to accelerate social transformation at the national and local levels. IDLO has extensive experience in implementing projects aimed at promoting the rule of law. The organization has worked with governments of dozen states and initiates projects in the whole world.
