8 of 10 judges confirmed their capability to administer justice

On 11 May 2016 the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine determined the results of initial qualification assessment of 10 judges of the Kyiv Appeal Administrative Court.

Upon the assessment results consisting of Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Head of the Panel, Mr. Yurii Titov and Mrs. Tetiana Veselska decided that the following 8 judges are capable to administer justice in the respective court.

  • Mr. Yevhen Sorochko;
  • Mr. Anatolii Stepaniuk;
  • Mrs. Nataliia Troian;
  • Mr. Vitalii Faidiuk;
  • Mr. Ihor Fedotov;
  • Mr. Yevhen Chaku
  • Mrs. Svitlana Shelest;
  • Mr. Oleh Shurko.

Mrs. Nina Starova did not confirm that she is capable to administer justice. The Commission suspended her from administration of justice and sent to the National School of Judges of Ukraine to undergo retraining, which will last until 22 September 2016. During retraining, the court specialization and instance, as well as the results of the initial qualification assessment of these judges will be considered. After retraining, judges will be subject to reassessment.

Regarding judge Mrs. Valentyna Tverdohlib, the Commission decided to take a recess in considering the determination of results of initial qualification assessment due to the need for additional data verification of judicial dossier.
