A monthly meeting of donors and executors of international assistance projects

A regular meeting of representatives of projects of international assistance who work in the sphere of strengthening the rule of law was held on 11th of September 2017 in the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the plans of modernization of legal education in Ukraine and experience of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the organization and holding in 2016 a pilot, and in 2017 general national professional entrance exam using the independent external evaluation for admission in order to obtain a Master’s degree in the specialty “Law”.

During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Science Ms. Liliya Hrynevych and the Director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Mr. Oleg Sharov have spoken on the presentation “About the implementation of a single entrance exam for admission to the magistracy in the specialty 081 “Law”.

The member of the Commission Mr. Sergii Prylypko took part in the meeting as a representative of the Commission.

The representatives of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine, the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of Great Britain, the Embassy of Netherlands, Ukrainian Bar Association, the Project of EU “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, Ukrainian–Canadian Project “Support for Judicial Reform”, the National School of Judges of Ukraine and other partners were presented during the meeting.

The meeting was arranged under the USAID “New Justice” Program assistance.

The USAID “New Justice” Program started its work in October 2016.

The Program is implemented to support the judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and the people of Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform taking into account the Constitutional amendments 2016 in Strategy for reforming the judiciary structure, the judiciary proceedings and related legal institutions and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2015-2020.

The USAID “New Justice” Program builds on the achievements of the USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project and USAID “FAIR Justice” Project and will use its progress for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID and US Government Projects and other projects of International donor organizations in Ukraine.
