A monthly meeting of Donors and Implementers of international assistance took place

7 September 2016 representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the regular Donors and Implementers meeting in the field of rule of law, organized under the USAID "Fair Justice" Project.

The event was attended by representatives of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, USAID RADA Program, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, Association of Judges of Ukraine, American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, Embassy of Germany in Ukraine, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, High Administrative Court, Law Enforcement Section US Embassy to Ukraine, Reanimation Reform Package, National School of Judges, SIDA Project on local self-government, RADA Project, "Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine" (QALA) Project, EUAM Ukraine, High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases.

Mr. Sergey Koziakov, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine addressed the participants of the meeting and spoke about current plans and priorities of the Commission for 2016-2017 years. Particular attention was paid to the technical issues of organizing and conducting the competition to the Supreme Court under the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges» №1402-VIII dated 2 June 2016, which task is to implement the updated constitutional principles of justice to ensure the independence and depoliticization of the judiciary, strengthening its responsibility before society, introducing new principles of formation of the judiciary, strengthening the role of the Public to control the integrity and ethics of the judges and the judicial system optimization.

After detailed discussion of the first presentation Mrs. Tamila Konoplytska, Project Manager of GfK Ukraine and Mr. Thomas Verteletskiy, monitoring and evaluation specialist of the USAID "Fair Justice" Project told the audience about the results of the second nationwide Survey concerning the attitude to democratic changes in the political and social spheres, judicial reform and the process of cleaning power in Ukraine. Experts Research was focused on views issues on development vectors of Ukraine and threats to country development, the level of public confidence, the assessment of reforms status, lustration process in Ukraine, cleaning of judiciary, corruption prevention etc.

At the end of the meeting, the participants exchanged with the news in strengthening the rule of law.
