A monthly Rule of Law Donors and Implementers meeting was held

On 1 February 2017 representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine took part in the regular meeting of Donors and Implementers of projects/programs in the field of rule of law, which was organized by the USAID New Justice Program.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases, the Public Council of Integrity, Embassy of Germany in Ukraine, European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, the International Development Law Organization, the EU Project "Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine", USAID RADA Program: Responsible Accountable Democratic Assembly, Ukrainian-Canadian Support to Judicial Reform Project and many others.

Mr. Mykola Onishchiuk, Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine has presented his report. Mr. Onishchiuk told about the training system of candidates for judges of the new Supreme Court, developed by the National School of Judges of Ukraine in close cooperation with international organizations and international technical assistance projects /programs of the EU, CoE, OSCE, USAID and the Government of Canada. He also noted that the EU has assumed a coordinating role in inter-cooperation and involvement into the future training judicial programs for judges of the Supreme Court of international experts with high-level reputation.

At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed current and planned activities in strengthening the rule of law, and thanked USAID New Justice Program for organizing this meaningful event.

The USAID New Justice Program started its work in October 2016.

The Program is implemented to support the judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and the people of Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform taking into account the Constitutional amendments 2016 in Strategy for reforming the judiciary structure, the judiciary proceedings and related legal institutions and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2015-2020.

The USAID New Justice Program builds on the achievements of the USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project and USAID FAIR Justice Project and will use its progress for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID and US Government Projects and other projects of International donor organizations in Ukraine.
