A qualification examination has been conducted within the selection of candidates for the position of a judge of a local court
On 31st of October 2017, an unprecedented selection examination took place within the scope of the procedure for selecting candidates for the positions of judges to local courts. 4525 candidates were admitted to the exam, 4128 actually took part in the exam. The exam was held at the International Exhibition Center and consisted of two anonymous written tests: level of proficiency in the state language and level of general theoretical knowledge in the field of law.

This is the first selection for the position of a judge to a local court, which has been held over the past four years (and the fourth for the entire time of independence of Ukraine). The winners of this selection will be eligible to apply for a position of a judge of a local court.
The results of candidates who have already taken part in the preliminary selection, as well as those who have worked as a judge’ assistant for at least three years, will be determined in
July 2018. The winners will be credited to the personnel reserve. For the rest of the candidates, the results will be determined in spring 2019, as they will be specially trained during the year. Assistants of judges will undergo special training under a shortened procedure, so their results will be known before.
It should be noticed that international observers noted the high level of organization and holding of the competition.
