A regular meeting of representatives of international technical assistance projects on strengthening the rule of law took place
On May 6, 2020, a regular meeting of representatives of international technical assistance projects in the area of strengthening the rule of law organized in online mode by the USAID New Justice Program took place.
During the meeting Mykola Onishchuk, rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, spoke about the measures taken by the NSJU in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Since the beginning of the quarantine approximately 150 judges and 960 court staff have passed online training. The main form of training was distance learning in the format of webinars, videoconferences, lectures and seminars. Video classes for judges are posted on the official YouTube channel of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.
William Branson, Director of Special Projects at the National Judicial College in Reno (USA) informed the audience about the college’s activities, distance education experience and opportunities for joint webinars with the National School of Judges of Ukraine for Ukrainian judges and court staff.
Currently, the National School of Judges of Ukraine, in cooperation with international technical assistance projects, continues to develop new trainings using telecommunication technologies to ensure the continuity of training of judges and court staff in these difficult times for the country. Distance learning has become an effective tool during the pandemic, as its use is possible regardless of the location of listeners.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine at the meeting was represented by Natalia Kidina, Head of the Legal Department of the Commission Secretariat.
