Expert discussion with the representatives of judicial systems of Ireland and Ukraine

On 14th of September 2017, European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine held in its offices the meeting with representatives of judicial systems of Ireland and Ukraine.

Irish delegation consisting of the Head of the Supreme Court of Ireland Mr. Frank Clark, judge of the Court of Appeal of Ireland Mr. George Birmingham and Senior Attorney of Ireland Ms. Helen Boyle arrived in Ukraine in order to exchange an experience with Ukrainian colleagues concerning methods of judicial systems improvement for both countries.

Judges of Ireland have shared with participants the experience of their country in preserving public’s trust in the national judicial system. Participants have also informed about the role and participation of the Public in the career of judges, ensuring the safety of judges and courtrooms, and also about the role of the European Convention on Human Rights in Irish and Ukrainian legal systems.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the Court of Appeal and International Donors Organizations.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the Chairman of the Commission Mr. Sergii Koziakov and acting head of the International Cooperation Division Ms. Yuliia Tkachenko.

The meeting was organized with the assistance of European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine.
