Members of the Commission met with the Council of Europe International Expert
On 13th of October 2017, the members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine have met with Ms. Danutė Jocienė, the judge of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania and International Expert of the Council of Europe.
The visit of Ms. Jociene was held within the framework of the cooperation of the Council of Europe Project “Support to the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Ukraine” with the
High Council of Justice on the preparation of the latest annual report on the status of the independence of judges in Ukraine.
During the meeting, the members of the Commission have told about the powers of the Commission and have discussed with the International Expert the new procedures that were applied in the judicial career field.
In addition, representatives of the Commission expressed their recommendations for the annual report of the High Council of Justice. “We need to work hard in order to strengthen the judicial system. We must respect the independence of judges and try to not hurt their reputation,” – said Mr. Stanislav Shchotka.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the secretary of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission Mr. Stanislav Shchotka, members of the Qualification Chamber of the HQCJ Ms. Tetiana Veselska, Mr. Taras Lukash and acting Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the Secretariat of the Commission
