Opening of a new project of the Council of Europe in the field of justice

Representatives of the Commission took part in the official opening of the new Council of Europe Project «Consolidation of Justice Sector Policy Development in Ukraine», financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe held on June 19, 2015.

Mr Christos Dzhakomopulos, Special Representative Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Gia Getsadze, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Mr Ihor Benedysiuk, Chairman of the High Council of Justice, Ms. Maryna Klimenko, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Ms. Valentyna Simonenko, President of Council of Judges of Ukraine, Mr Borys Hulko, President of the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases, Mr Hennadii Kravchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine, representatives of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Administration of the President of Ukraine, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ministry of Interior Affaires of Ukraine, Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, Ukrainian Bar Association, National Association of Advocates of Ukraine, National School of Judges of Ukraine, National Academy of Prosecution of Ukraine, representatives of European institutions and international Projects were among the participants.

The plans of the Project is to support public authorities and the Project «Support for Justice Reforms in Ukraine» in the implementation of the Strategy of reforming the judiciary and related legal institutions for the years 2015-2020 and the Action Plan to the Strategy and also to identify aims and targets in the process of implementation.

In addition, the Project intends to provide expert support to implement the Council of Europe standards in the process of reforms in the sphere of justice, to ensure a coordinated approach and understanding modern management efficiency based on the legal framework of the Council of Europe in the field of justice, to promote coordination and monitoring of implementation Strategy and improve communication with the public in the implementation of the project objectives.
