Representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce were told about the competition to the patent court
On 2 February 2018, Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, and Mr. Stanislav Shchotka, Secretary of the Qualification Chamber the Commission, met with the representatives of the American Chamber’s of Commerce in Ukraine Intellectual Property Protection Committee.
During the event the issues of the establishment of the High Court on Intellectual Property in Ukraine were discussed.
Mr. Sergii Koziakov and Mr. Stanislav Shchotka informed the audience about the candidates who submitted applications for participation in the competition, and told about the main stages and procedures the participants admitted to the competition are to complete.
“There are many successful stories of the establishment of IP-courts in the world, so I'm confident that we will be able to make up the list of those countries,” said Mr. Sergii Koziakov.
The procedure of the contest will be similar to the procedure applied by the Commission during the competition to the Supreme Court.
“All questions will be published. The law does not oblige the Commission to do this, but we have decided to introduce a new standard - to draft a lot of questions and make them public, so that all the candidates are on an equal footing,” said Mr. Stanislav Shchotka.
The participants of the discussion emphasized that this part of the judicial reform in Ukraine - the establishment of the patent court - is very important for the business community and foreign investors.
