Representatives of the Commission held a meeting with the EU Support to Justice Sector Reforms Evaluation Mission

On 25 January 2018, in the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was held a working meeting between the representatives of the Commission and the EU Support to Justice Sector Reforms Evaluation Mission.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the results of the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” during 2013-2017 and to prepare recommendations for the new EU Project “PRAVO”.

Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the Commission, Ms. Olena Ponomarenko, Head of the Commission’s Secretariat, Mr. Igor Pellicciari, Mr. Dario Quintavalle, members of the EU Support to Justice Sector Reforms Evaluation Mission and Ms. Oksana Matiyash, national expert of the EU Project “PRAVO” participated in the meeting.

The participants discussed the results of the Commission's cooperation with the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, namely the Project’s assistance in the framework of the competition to the Supreme Court, selection of candidates for judicial positions, qualification assessment of judges and the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property .

In particular, with the assistance of the Project the expert examination of the Commission’s legal acts was carried out; the Project also supported the Commission in the development of tests and practical tasks, psychological tests and trainings for the Commission members on their performance, communication issues, and more.

The EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” provided its assistance during the period 2013-2017, actively promoting cooperation among key participants of the justice sector, in particular, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, representatives of the judiciary, the legal profession and civil society in order to assist in the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive program for reforming the justice sector in accordance with the principles of democracy, rule of law and the best European experience. The project was implemented by the Consortium of EU Member States, headed by Justice Cooperation Internationale, France.
