Representatives of the Commission held a working meeting with the Legal and Education Director, International Cooperation Group of the National Judicial Institute of Canada
On 19 January 2018, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine hosted a working meeting of the Commission representatives with Mr. Donald Chiasson, Legal and Education Director, International Cooperation Group, National Judicial Institute of Canada and Mr. Igor Osyka, manager of the Ukrainian-Canadian Support to Judicial Reform Project.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was presented by Mr. Sergii Koziakov, Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Andrii Vasylenko, Member of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission and Ms. Olena Ponomarenko, Head of the Commission’s Secretariat.
The participants discussed the plans and procedures of the Commission in 2018, including qualification assessment of judges, selection of candidates for judges, the second part of the competition to the Supreme Court, a competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property, a competition to the High Anticorruption Court and the transfer of judges.
In general, as the Chairman of the Commission noted, this year the Commission has to make approximately 11 thousand personnel decisions.
Mr. Donald Chiasson commended the work of the HQCJ during the competition to the Supreme Court and assured of the readiness to continue to provide the Commission with the necessary support.
Mr. Sergii Koziakov thanked Canadian colleagues for assistance the Commission had already received and also expressed his hope for further fruitful and effective cooperation.
