The Chairman of the Commission Mr. Sergii Koziakov took part in the Human dimension implementation meeting

On 19th of September 2017, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Sergii Koziakov took part in the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights during the working visit with Ukrainian delegation to Warsaw.

The meeting is been organized on annual basis by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in accordance with the implementation of member-states’ obligations in the human dimension. The working visit of Mr. Sergii Koziakov is in the frameworks of a Project “Guarantees of the observance of human rights in the administration of justice”, implemented by OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine.

Moreover, the Chairman of the Commission took part in the sessions dedicated to the questions of the rule of law. In particular, the discussion covered the right to a fair trial, independence of a court, protection of human rights and judicial lawmaking process. Mr. Sergii Koziakov has told about the first competition to the Supreme Court in the history of Ukraine.

“Judicial reform foresees depoliticization in Ukraine. Now all decisions on the career of judges are provided by independent bodies of Judicial Governance – the Commission and the Supreme Council of Justice. For the first time in the history of Ukraine due to the open competition, the composition of the Supreme Court was determined. I’m sure, that the new composition of the Supreme Court will work under the new procedural codes in a spirit of the rule of law, and definitely, it will influence positively on the reform of judicial system” – noticed Mr. Sergii Koziakov.

Among the participants of the meeting, the representatives of governments of different states, institutes of civil society and human rights experts were present.
