The Commission continues its close cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development

On 14 April 2017 a meeting between the leadership of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) took place.

Parties discussed the competition to the Supreme Court and its current results.

The Chairman of the Commission Mr. Sergii Koziakov thanked foreign partners for the support in holding the competition.

Mr. Daniel Ryan, Deputy Director of the USAID Democracy and Governance Office in Ukraine, noted that the Agency is ready for the further cooperation with the Commission. The same relates to the cooperation in the selection of candidates for the positions of judges.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the HQCJ, the members of the Commission Mr. Stanislav Shchotka, Mr. Andrii Vasylenko, Mr. Andrii Kozlov, the Deputy Head of the Secretariat Mr. Oleksandr Bystrushkin and the Head of the Department of Information Technologies Mr. Denys Mamchenko. The USAID was represented by the Deputy Director of the USAID Democracy and Governance Office Mr. Daniel Ryan, the Manager of  Programmes for Democracy and Governance Mr. Oleksandr Piskun, the Chief of the Party of the USAID New Justice Program Mr. David Vaughn and the Deputy Chief of the Party of the USAID New Justice Program Ms. Nataliia Petrova.

The USAID New Justice Program started its work in October 2016.

The Program is implemented to support the judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and the people of Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform taking into account the Constitutional amendments 2016 in Strategy for reforming the judiciary structure, the judiciary proceedings and related legal institutions and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2015-2020.

The USAID New Justice Program builds on the achievements of the USAID Ukraine Rule of Law Project and USAID FAIR Justice Project and will use its progress for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID and US Government Projects and other projects of International donor organizations in Ukraine.
