The Commission held the meeting with representatives of the USAID “New Justice” Program
On 30th November 2017, a working meeting of representatives of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine with representatives of the USAID “New Justice” Program took place.
Mr. Daniel Ryan, Deputy Director of the USAID Democracy and Governance Office, Mr. Oleksander Piskun, Democracy Project Manager of the USAID Democracy and Governance Office, Mr. David Michael Vaughn, the Chief of Party of the USAID “New Justice” Program and Ms. Anna Sukhova, Legal Advisor took part in the discussion.
The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by Mr. Sergii Koziakov, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Andrii Vasilenko, a member of the Qualification Chamber of the Commission, Mr.Sergii Prilipko, a member of the Chamber for Selection and Public Service of Judges of the Commission, Mr. Oleksandr Bystrushkin, Deputy Head of the Commission’s Secretariat.
During the meeting Mr. Sergii Koziakov informed about immediate plans of the HQCJ in the light of judicial reform implementation. The needs of the Commission were also discussed given the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property.
The representatives of the Program welcomed the Commission's goodwill to continue constitutional reforms in the justice sector. They expressed their readiness to support the High Qualification Commission in the establishment of the High Court on Intellectual Property.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) “New Justice” Program started its work in Ukraine in October 2016.
The purpose of the Program is to support the judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and people of Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform given the constitutional amendments of 2016 and The Ukraine Judiciary Development Strategy 2015-2020.
The Program builds on the achievements of previous USAID projects “Ukraine: Rule of Law” and “Fair Justice” and uses their achievements for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID and US Government projects and other projects of international donor organizations in Ukraine.
