The issues related to the selection and qualification assessment of judges were discussed in Lviv

On 20th November 2017, the Secretary of the Qualification Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Mr. Stanislav Shchotka took part in a round table discussion on the selection and qualification assessment of judges.

“At one moment a large number of judges left the bench. Given this aspect the Commission had to very quickly orientate in time, space and conditions and respond as appropriate. We cannot allow the state to be helpless before this challenge. Therefore, the HQCJ now focuses on the selection of new local court judges, as well as carries out the qualification assessment of current judges, about 6000”, stressed Mr. Stanislav Shchotka.

Members of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, judges, lawyers, scientists, experts and others took part in the event.

During the second section the participants discussed the competition to the High Court on Intellectual Property.

The event was held by the Ukrainian Bar Association together with the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” and the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
